Power limits approved for 2010

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

The popular TZR250s will be limited to 53bhp in 2010 to ensure RD350s have a power advantage that compensates for their poorer handling characteristics. The RD350’s existing 59bhp power limit will remain in place, and there’s an additional new limit for the TDR250, which will be capped to 56bhp. This limit reflects the extra weight of a TDR over a TZR and its poorer aerodynamics. All figures relate to the DynaPro dyno that will be used at Bemsee meetings in 2010. The TZR and TDR limits were voted in by riders in the Yamaha Past Masters Racing Club’s annual ballot. It achieved just under 70% approval, enough to see the limits introduced.

Other changes for 2010 see the end of the one-year control rear tyre for TZRs, allowing riders to source equivalent brake master cylinders from other machines and changes to make the use of the ‘LC’ more attractive to potential riders. TZR riders will be able to use any road-legal moulded pattern tyres, on either the standard 3in rear rim or the wider 3.5in rim that has become popular. TZR master cylinders, which are becoming thin on the ground, can now be replaced by one from another machine as long as it has a 14mm piston and is fixed ratio type. Full technical regulations for 2010 will be published on the website soon.
