Brands Hatch crash Craig Jennings

Postby Solder » Sun Jul 25, 2010 4:24 pm

As many of you will already be aware Craig had a big off at Paddock Hill during the first YPM race on Saturday.

He was treated trackside by medics and marshals for a head injury and subsequently taken by air ambulance to Queens Hospital Romford where he remains.

His current condition is stable and his treatment is ongoing.

We appreciate that many people will be concerned to know his progress and any potential for visits. At present visiting is restricted to family only.

We will update his condition as and when we can, in the meantime we would like to say a big thank you to all those involved in his care at trackside and hospital and for all the best wishes and other assistance we have received.

Thanks Ramit racing

The latest up-date on Craig’s condition was passed on to us this evening by Becks his wife.

The doctors have stated that Craig has suffered what they describe as a very serious brain injury.

An attempt was made today to bring him out of the induced coma that has been put in, but some difficulties prevented this, a further attempt is going to be made tomorrow.

When this is achieved there will still be a long road to full recovery.

Visiting is still restricted to family only, and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

We are in contact with Becks and have passed on everybody’s kind words.

Today Craig was taken off almost all of his sedation and responded well.

He moved his hand, foot and head and also opened his eyes briefly.

Becks says he made us all smile knowing that he is fighting this and that the Craig we now is still there.

Visiting etc remains family only.

Just a few quick lines for all of you that we know are worried about Craig’s progress.

We are in contact with Becks and family on a daily basis.

There have been no major developments in the last 48hrs.

Lots of medical things have been going on, scans etc. Some we understand, some we’re not quite sure about, not being medical people and because we are relaying this second hand.

A CT scan today showed that his brain had shifted back to normal alignment which was a positive.

He may be transferred from Intensive Care to the High Dependency Unit. He is still not conscious.

We appreciate everybody’s concerns and will post more information on the site, if it is relevant, when we get it.

Gav, and the rest of the Ramits.

The latest update we have on Craig is that he is still unconscious however he is now breathing completely on his own.

He has been taken off of nearly all of the medication he was receiving and has become more active in his movements.

He has shown some encouraging signs of response to stimuli.

Visiting remains family only.

Craig has been transferred today from Romford to a hospital in Norwich.

There is no major change in his condition at present but everybody is hoping that things continue to move in the right direction.

Visiting remains family only at present.

Craig is safely installed at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. He has a side room to himself.

There has been no major changes in his condition, he is not yet conscious but again as somebody who visited him yesterday said to me, “the old Craig was definitely still there fighting to get out”

All the advice from doctors has indicated that his recovery will be long and slow so it is not to be expected that there will be any dramatic changes from day to day, although we can only hope.

With that in mind and in order not to pester Becks and family the next update on Craig’s condition will be in about ten days time unless anything dramatic occurs in the meantime.

Visiting is still family only at present. Becks will update us if this changes.

Update...

Craig has made some very positive progress over the last week or so. He no longer requires oxygen and he is now able to clear his own lungs.

Whilst he still remains unconscious there has been a lot more activity of late. Both arms and hands are moving more and more and Craigs eyes are now occasionally both fully opening and blinking.

Craig seems to have regained alot more colour and generally looks alot healthier. There is still a long way to go but Craig is definitely fighting and moving in the correct direction.

I will update the post in about a week unless there is any major change.

Latest Update

Craig has been transferred today from the Norwich and Norfolk Hospital to a rehabilitation unit, also in Norwich.

Becks says the move went well and he has a large room to himself.

Here he will get the intensive specialist treatment to help him on his path to recovery.
